From Civ Game
Civ Game has gone WIKI!
We have under taken this journey to replace the Civilization series with a game that is enjoyable, mentally stimulating and provides a realistic simulation of the course of human events. Like Civilization, we intend to have the player be a mysterious controlling political body and have the player "be" the government. Unlike Civilization, we intend to factor in many many more aspects of real government, dig into the vast potential of ideas that Civilization only toys with and give the player only as much power as the government would actually have (except that we will allow the player control of battles due to its great importance to gameplay).
Thank you for being part of the development; we would love to hear your ideas. We don't care if we have heard it before or if someone else said it: please tell us your ideas as they come to you. So make an account and make some edits or go to the discussion board!

[edit] History
This project was the brain child of two high school students, Robin O'Connelld and Benjamin Bazor, in 2008. They had both played Civilization 3 and 4 but were thoroughly unsatisfied. They came to the critical realization: those games suck. They were in an Advanced Placement World History class when they realized that history is awesome. Being both programmers and visionaries they realized that if they combined their two critical ideas they could make something beautiful: Civ Game.
These phases are marking the creator's view of their progress. They will work on all previous phases at any time during the project so don't think you can't contribute if the corresponding phase is completed.
[edit] Phases
[edit] Phase Eins (COMPLETE)
Base ideas; what is going to be included.
[edit] Revision Eins (Pending finalization)
Elaboration, organization, clarification, removal of discontinuities.
[edit] Phase Zwei (Started)
Specifics - technologies, inventions, Natural Disasters (Expansion into resource related disasters), spending, aspects of government, laws, resources, unit types.
[edit] Phase Drei
Interaction and quantification.
[edit] Phase Vier
Formulas.
[edit] Phase Fünf
Code design and structure, map generation.
[edit] Phase Sechs
Coding.
[edit] Phase Sieben
Units and other non-critical components.
[edit] Phase Acht
Distribution and advertising.
[edit] Phase Neun
Updating.
[edit] The Name
Back in '52, Robin O'Connelld was working in the fields and he said Civ Game and so it was that Civ Game would be called Civ Game until a more professional name is created.
[edit] Why
As stated, the Civilization games suck. This is true for many reasons, some of which include: inability to conquer, lack of a good barbarian warning system, inaccurate movement systems, longevity of civilizations, linearity of technology, crippling military issues, omission of several fundamental aspects of civilizations (and if included, usually done poorly), and not really mimicking human government. They saw these issues as fixable and so they sought to do so.
[edit] What is included
It is acknowledged that there are many parts of society that can be put into a game and others that are much too difficult. Certain constraints are placed on the developers since there are hardware and coding limitations: the ideal of millions of micro-AIs making years of interactions in seconds is simply impossible. This doesn't mean all hope is lost. When thinking of what should be included, think of what takes money from the state, what can cause wars in the state, what is influential in human development, what details make something important, and what can be programmed. The developers are by no means experts on any of the subjects in Civ Game, so any that come along, make your opinions heard. This section is merely a justification for the current content, not the limitations for potential content. After the initial platform is created, then the more advanced and realistic modules can be included. Since many things will be forgotten about, please, edit, discuss and help out!
